Feels like Hollywood!

Christoph Webers personal review of an amazing week snowboarding

The day after the event, I passed by the stadium for the last time. I was on my way home to Innsbruck after a really relaxed day, saying Good bye to everybody and for the first time enjoying the warm spring-like temperatures without fearing the jump could melt away.

I walked behind the jump to do some last photos for my little jump portfolio. The sun was about to set, it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful and even though the jump already turned a little brown, it was a really beautiful scenery to look at.

After sitting down for a few minutes I had one of the moments where you suddenly are able to wrap up all your pictures and memories in your head and realize what actually happened the past weeks.

Just 2 weeks ago we were so close to pull the plug of the whole thing. 20° Celsius, storm and rain. The conditions couldn't have been worse. The snow was melting faster than we were able to replace it. To keep a final shape was impossible.

Then the surprising snowfall during the week of the event.-15°C on Wednesday night. The Jump was finally finished 1 week later than planned.

Then the amazing film-session with the "Little Bull" helicopter on Saturday afternoon, the impressive set up of the Saturday night final and the smile on everybody's faces in the end.

Looking back it’s almost a little bit like a cheesy Hollywood movie script. Or maybe we were simply just really lucky in the end.

"Come on this can’t be over" I said to myself while recapping my memories."...lets just have a few more days of riding this jump plus all the fun things we were doing together all week long!"

I remembered one of the riders said..."let’s do this session for a whole season, how sick would that be!" "But yes, everybody left...just get it Christoph...the session is over for this year!"

But one smart guy once said that you have to stop at the best moment - I guess he was right with that!

Anyways, I want to thank everybody who was working on the Red Bull Gap Session this year.

The list of really good people working on this is really long. But I want to especially thank everybody from Red Bull for trusting and listening to us snowboard's to create an event that is much more then the usual "spin to win".

Oli for never giving up and pushing against all human and inhuman forces, Hermann for simply being the best catdriver I can imagine, Nick and the Shape crew for

raking that damn snow 24/7, our Sponsors Nitro and Bonfire , the Bagjump crew (next time we defiantly use it for what is actually build for, believe me, that thing really is so fun to jump into!).

The city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen for the support that goes way beyond the support that our young generation receives at other places, and finally all the riders for supporting our idea and making the session not much more then a fun session between friends . I really couldn’t ask for more!

I had a blast and as I said before...."lets do it again!"

Servus!
